I’m back and I’m a mom

Firstly, let me apologize because I’m a piece of shit. The last time I wrote on my blog was in July when I was about 4 months pregnant. They are not lying when they say your baby drains you of all your energy because I totally left this blog and everything else I loved behind. I just didn’t have it in me to write, post pictures, and frankly… to be cute. You may notice that my Instagram also took a hit. lol But let’s put all of that in the past –  I am back and better than ever.

My life has changed a bit and I now have a beautiful, sweet baby boy. Although my blog will remain as a curly hair and beauty site, I will definitely be sprinkling some of my mom thoughts and how I balance my passions with my little one. If you are not okay with that, I will hold the imaginary door for you on the way out. lol I am also using this next statement for accountability purposes: I promise to post a new blog every other Thursday going forward.

Let me recap my entire pregnancy, hair and beauty life in a small paragraph:

I have no idea how these pregnant beauty bloggers and Instagram moms do it – looking all majestic while being pregnant all the time. That’s not me – I was looking like a straight homeless woman (my apologies if I offended anyone). I even almost forgot how to do my everyday cat eye and my hair remained in a nice bun the majority of the time. Don’t even get me started on my weekly deep conditioning – it just wasn’t happening. I also have a small shower and being as big as I was, there wasn’t space for me to wash my hair and detangle how I would have liked. Instead, my hair wash days shifted to a nearby sink, but let me tell you – my arms almost gave out. SMH. I’ll be the first to say, that I was at my laziest during my pregnancy – you can judge me all you want. I was; however, committed to having beautiful curly locks while I gave birth – you know? For the pictures and the visitors lol. It was tough, but I achieved it. The toughest part was that I had absolutely no patience while I was washing, deep conditioning and air drying. Probably because I also had no patience for my son who was giving his momma contractions, but he just wasn’t coming. At the end of the day, I was cute my curly hair and I felt accomplished.

If anybody wants to hear about my labor experience as a first time mom – send me a message on here or DM me on Instagram and I will blog my experience.

xoxo

Surprise! Hair & Baby

It has been a super long time since I posted on my website – but, for good reason! As you may noticed, my last post was published on April 7th, 2018. I know, horrible upkeep on my hair journey and reviews; however, I am super excited to announce that I am pregnant and found out around that same time as my last post!! Definitely no excuse, but my mind has been elsewhere. This is my first child, and I have been going through the pregnancy ups and downs and not really giving my hair the attention it needs and deserves. So here’s what we know about my life:

Pregnancy:

  • I am 4 months pregnant
  • Having a boy
  • Living the dream with nausea and heart burn
  • Can’t sleep
  • Completely stopped doing my makeup and focusing on my hair’s health and growth

I am absolutely enjoying my pregnancy, but also scared about being a first time mother. I will say, I was frustrated with all my family and friends because they tell you about all the positive stuff about pregnancy, but PEOPLE, tell me the negative stuff too so I’m prepared and don’t become one of those whiny pregnant women. I am also amazed about how people carry themselves on Instagram, looking beautiful with heels and their belly and I’m just here looking like a blob. LOL – this will change, I promised myself that I would look like a decent human being going forward.

Okay back to my hair:

  • It’s losing volume
  • Some days it looks a bit dull
  • Haven’t been keeping up with my 5 day routine
  • Have been doing more buns than defined curls
  • Need a haircut, but want to wait until I give birth
  • Prenatals aren’t really giving my hair life (I’ve heard this from several people, but I’m not seeing a change, idk)

I definitely want to try something new. I have been sweating As I Am products, but maybe there’s a rule from the hair gods that says you can’t overdo 1 product, LOL. I have been dabbling in Ouidad and I love their curl cream, but I haven’t used it consistently enough to provide you ladies and gentlemen with a review.

Now that this pregnancy is out in the world, I will definitely be focusing on my hair and will get back to you all on how I’m keeping my hair alive throughout this process.

WARNING: For the next 5- 6 months, you will receive some baby talk within my posts. I can’t help it, I’m excited. Check out my IG for my Starbucks pregnancy announcement and my IG stories for baby bump pictures/videos.

Xoxo,

Enid
